Board Approves Administrative Promotions
Geoffrey Hawthorne, Assistant Principal at Cedar Creek Middle School, will become Principal of Edward Best Elementary School effective July 1, 2013. Hawthorne will replace retiring Edward Best Principal Deborah Ayscue.
Hawthorne began his teaching career at Cedar Creek Middle School in 2005 teaching Eighth Grade Social Studies for four years. In 2009, Hawthorne was promoted to Assistant Principal at the school, his current post. Hawthorne has over seven years’ experience in Franklin County Schools. Prior to teaching at Cedar Creek, Hawthorne was employed at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi for 4 years.
Hawthorne holds a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from North Carolina State University.
Hassan Kingsberry, Assistant Principal at Bunn High School, will become Principal of the Creative Education Center effective July 1, 2013. Kingsberry will replace retiring Creative Education Center Principal Dale Byrns.
Kingsberry has been employed with Franklin County Schools since 2010. He has previous experience as a Social Studies Teacher in Warren County. He also served as an Administrative Intern at Franklin County Early College High School and Youngsville Elementary School during the 2010-2011 school year. In addition, Kingsberry has previous experience as a Georgia and North Carolina licensed attorney.
Kingsberry holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy Analysis from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Juris Doctor Degree in Law from North Carolina Central University, and a Master’s Degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
